Forty minutes with someone who has planned migrations across mixed VPN estates. You describe what you run; you leave knowing what an assessment would involve, what would drive its cost, and whether you need one.

What the forty minutes covers

Structured, because an unstructured call about an estate you cannot fully describe from memory tends to produce forty minutes and no conclusion.

  1. Your estate, in outline

    Roughly how many tunnels and sites, which gateway platforms, which clouds, and how many tunnels terminate on equipment you do not control. Approximate figures are fine.

  2. The questions that actually determine effort

    Version and licence spread, routing model, HA topology, change-control regime, documentation quality, and which peers belong to other organisations. This is the part that separates a two-week assessment from a two-month one.

  3. What an assessment would involve

    Scope, the data PQVPN would need from you, how it would be transferred, roughly how long it would take, and what you would receive at the end.

  4. Whether you need one

    Including the answer that you do not. If your estate is small enough or uniform enough that the published guides would get you there, you will be told so on the call.

Preparation

What to bring, and what to leave out

Worth having

  • Someone who knows the estate — a network or infrastructure lead, not only a decision maker
  • Rough tunnel, site and platform counts. Exact figures are not needed and will not be trusted anyway
  • Whether any tunnels terminate on partner-controlled equipment
  • Your change-control reality: how long a production change actually takes to approve
  • Any deadline you are working to, and where it came from

Deliberately not needed

  • Configuration files, device output or credentials
  • Network diagrams containing real addressing
  • Anything you would need an NDA in place to share
